Jim Dick
Jim Dick holds a degree in Physiology and Zoology from the University of Sheffield.
After a short spell as a management trainee with Courtaulds plc, Jim spent 30 years with Smith & Nephew plc. During his career at Smith & Nephew he held a number of sales and marketing positions and for many years was International Marketing Director for the Medical business in Hull. He moved into general management in the early 90's. He was Managing Director of Smith & Nephew's Pharmaceutical and UK Healthcare businesses and was Chairman of a joint venture in tissue engineering with a Californian bio-tech company, prior to becoming President of the Global Wound Management business, which he held for 7 years. During that time he was also a member of the Smith & Nephew Group Executive Committee.
He has been very active in the local community, being the former Chairman of Hull Cityimage and remains a Non-executive Director of Hull Citybuild. He is chairman of Cat.Zero a new not for profit organisation aimed at helping young people into education,employment or training .He is pro–chancellor of the University of Hull. He was a founder shareholder and Non-executive Director of KCFM, the new commercial radio station for Hull and East Yorkshire and a member of the Board of Yorkshire Science. He also consults for private equity.
