Background to the Awards

Innovator/10 – the third Yorkshire and Humber Innovation Awards – has been established by Yorkshire Forward, together with key regional associates, to celebrate and reward the outstanding achievements in innovation in the region’s businesses and knowledge base.

The Innovator/10 Awards builds on the success of the I/09, I/08 and Business of Innovation Awards (2005 and 2006), which celebrated the most successful partnerships between Yorkshire and Humber’s Centre’s of Industrial Collaboration and business.

We hope that businesses, universities, research organisations, professional services and individuals within the Yorkshire and Humber region, will engage with the awards and tell us about the outstanding innovations which are helping to drive the future growth of our region.

Why apply for an Innovator/10 award?

An Innovator/10 Award can help raise your organisation’s profile – both regionally and nationally – whilst increasing awareness of your innovation. This could generate new opportunities, enhance relationships with partners and even lead to new collaborations. Your success will be shared with the region’s top businesses and academia at the awards evening in March, with further media coverage following the awards.

Winners will receive a cash prize of £3000, to invest in development or research that will enable their businesses to further enhance their innovative progress.

Calling all innovators

We recognise the importance of innovation to our regional businesses. We know the creation and development of new ideas will set Yorkshire businesses apart from the competition which is even more important in the current economic climate. Our awards celebrate innovative organisations that are based, or have a major presence, in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The innovator/10 awards are now open for applications.

All applications need to be submitted no later than 17:00 on Wednesday 2nd December 2009.
